A new international research network covering the monitoring of injected CO2 in geological storage formations.IntroductionThe inaugural meeting of the Monitoring Network was held at the Seymour Centre, University of California Santa Cruz, California, USA, on the 8th and 9th November 2004. The workshop was organised by IEAGHG and BP with the support of EPRI and the US Department of Energy/NETL. The international workshop, which was attended by nearly 60 delegates, aimed to bring together the main research groups currently active in the field of monitoring CO2 injected into geological formations and to discuss and critique the work that is currently underway.
