This Joint Network coordinates the work of three other Networks; Monitoring, Risk Assessment and Wellbore Integrity.

Introduction

In June 2008 a meeting of all three geological storage networks (International Network for CO₂ Capture, Risk Assessment Network and Wellbore Integrity Network) was organised. The aims of the Joint Network Meeting were:

• To ensure the networks are working in their most efficient way (i.e. avoiding overlap and duplication).
• To identify common areas that require input from more than one network.
• To set the future direction of the networks for the next three years.

The Joint Network Meeting was considered to be a major success. As well as focusing the current individual network activities the meeting identified areas for future research.

Research & Development

Two areas identified at the meeting for future research were on health and safety issues relating to CCS infrastructure and the need for more work on developing best practise on site characterisation. Both of these areas are covered by work already underway by the IEAGHG and the results from these will be fed back to the networks at a later date.
