6th IEAGHG International CCS Summer School

Following the success of the previous IEA Greenhouse Gas Programme (IEAGHG) Summer Schools in Kloster Seeon, Germany; Tigh-Na-Mara, Vancouver Island, Canada; Lorne, Australia; Longyearbyen, Svalbard, Norway and, Champaign, Illinois, USA last year, we are pleased to announce the next International CCS Summer School will be hosted by Tsinghua University in Beijing, China from the 12th – 18th of August 2012.

Bejing is the capital of the People’s Republic of China and is the country’s political, cultural and educational centre.  As one of China’s most renowned universities, Tsinghua has become an important institution for fostering talent and scientific research.  With the motto of “Self-Discipline and Social Commitment” and the spirit of “Actions Speak Louder than Words”, Tsinghua University is dedicated to the well-being of Chinese society and to world development.  At present, the university has 14 schools and 56 departments with faculties in science, engineering, humanities, law, medicine, history, philosophy, economics, management, education and art. The University over 25,900 students, including 13,100 undergraduates and 12,800 graduate students.

Selected students will be able to participate in this week long International Summer School with presentations and discussion led by international experts in the field of CCS.  The programme covers the full chain of CCS; providing up-to-date information in each field; including technical information on capture technologies, storage site selection, capacity and modelling, wellbore integrity and transport; as well as other issues such as regulations, health and safety, and public communication.
